What is the secret to a successful retirement? You might be surprised that it has nothing to do with money.

Join me, Tammy Vigue from The Curated Retirement, in this video as I share the secret to a successful retirement. I will be sharing how to design a meaningful and purposeful post-career life instead of settling for a routine retirement.

There are two types of spending in retirement – spending money and spending time. Retirement planning is synonymous with financial planning. But if work isn’t just what you do, it’s who you are, then you’ll need to replace more than just your income when you retire.

It’s not just income that we will need to replace when we retire, we’ll need to find ways to replace the benefits we get from our work too. Our careers give us a sense of accomplishment, achievement, status, identity, structure and purpose. Planning a successful retirement requires finding ways to replace these benefits.

We can start to think about retirement as a transition from making money to making meaning. It’s about finding new, meaningful and purposeful ways to spend our time.

In this video, I ask you to reflect on what you like about your work, the work benefits that are important to you? What you like about your work is what you will miss when you leave it. The things that you will miss from your everyday work life, will be what you need to replace in your retirement.

The exercises outlined in this workbook are designed to help you clarify the benefits that you get from your career. By identifying ways to replace work benefits you can begin to develop a positive vision of what you are retiring ‘to’.

This is the first step in your retirement planning process. A step to transition from a successful career to a meaningful retirement. Your retirement, your way, and a step-by-step plan to make it happen.
