I’m so glad you’re here

Hi, I’m Tammy. I’m a retirement coach and consultant who helps people design meaningful and fulfilling post-career lives.

Throughout my twenty-year career in the pension and investment industry, I have consulted on multimillion-dollar pension plans; advised and educated thousands of employees across Canada on their retirement plans; and spoken internationally on the topic of retirement planning.

Twenty years on the inside of the financial industry has given me a unique perspective.

I have come to believe that the way we plan for retirement is incomplete.

Retirement planning isn’t just about financial planning.  We need to plan for more than just replacing income; we need to define the life we want to retire to.

Earlier in my career, I would have told you that if you saved enough money and chose the right investments, you would have a happy retirement. But my own retirement, and my experience coaching hundreds of people, has shown me that this is only part of the story.

A successful retirement requires finding ways to replace
the benefits we get from our work beyond the income:
status, identity, friendships, challenge, structure, and purpose.

You’re in the right place if you are approaching retirement and are worried about what’s next

You’ve achieved success in your career. You’ve raised your family. But as you’re approaching retirement, instead of looking forward to it, you’re dreading it. You’re worried that you’ll wake up at 8am and have nothing to do by 8:30.

You’ve spent your entire life in a career that gave you status and recognition and you’re afraid to let that go. You’re worried that if you leave your career you’ll become irrelevant. Invisible. Like you don’t matter anymore.

You’ve always known where you’re headed but this is new for you – for the first time in your life you don’t have a vision or a plan.

You may have tried to figure this out on your own – buying books on retirement planning, taking a course, having conversations with your retired friends, listening to podcasts, etc… but the only information you’ve been able to find is information on financial planning. (And typing “I feel lost” in the google search bar hasn’t turned up too many promising results.)

Your financial advisor has assured you that you are on track for retirement. Intellectually you know that, but it’s the emotional / psychological (and yes, even spiritual) side that you could use a little help with.

You have the feeling that your friends and family secretly think you’re crazy

Why wouldn’t you want to retire and live the good life?! Shouldn’t you be happy about the opportunity to slow down, find more balance and check off all the things on your bucket list?!

On paper everything looks good, but you’re stuck. You can’t shake the feeling that work isn’t what you do, it’s who you are. (And you’re really good at it.)

As a result, when you think about retirement, it feels like an ending instead of a new beginning.

Why wouldn't you want to retire and live the good life?

I get it. I’ve been through this too.
(and as a retirement coach, I have helped hundreds of others through the same thing)

I know firsthand how difficult it can be

to leave a successful career…

…and the identity, structure and status it provides, because I did it myself.

In a former life I had a successful career in the financial industry.

I was at a point in my life where I was successful on paper. I had the career, the home and the lifestyle I wanted, yet despite this  ‘success’ I was unfulfilled. I was a workaholic and my life lacked balance and meaning.

So I quit my job, traded in my

briefcase for a yoga mat…

And immersed myself in the study and practice of yoga, meditation,
coaching, psychology, and all things personal development.

Today I am living on purpose…

Using my education and experience in psychology and coaching, meditation, mindfulness, and spirituality, as a retirement coach I now teach others how to design uniquely meaningful and authentic post-career lives. I have taken the wisdom I gained on my own personal and professional journey and distilled it into the coaching programs you’ll find here.

I deliver workshops, online courses, and coaching programs to address the often-overlooked aspect of retirement planning: purpose.

My individual coaching clients include judges, lawyers, entrepreneurs, award-winning filmmakers and entertainers, stay-at-home moms and even financial advisors.
